Continuing to champion rising talent across the electronic music spectrum, René LaVice welcomes Drum & Bass duo Chromatic to the Device family with colossal banger ‘Switcher’, marking their debut on the tastemaker label.
Pharoahe Monch may have just released the most exciting new song in the first week of 2019. Last year, the esteemed lyricist partnered with M.O.P’s Lil Fame for the menacing a la carte video. After recording three albums together from 1991-1997, the two amicably split up, and Monch pursued a more aggressive solo style with the terrific independent label Rawkus. He made guest appearances on other artists' records and contributed tracks to the Rawkus compilation Soundbombing, Vol. 2, which raised expectations for his solo debut.

The duo who, also go by the names Leon and Joe, emerged on the scene in 2010. The Bristol-based duo have been making a name for themselves with releases on seminal labels like Playaz, Innerground, V Recordings, Crucast, CIA, Commercial Suicide, Fokuz, Formation Records, Utopia Music, Lossless Music and more.
Not restricted to one style of D&B, the pair have honed and demonstrated a versatile sound that’s seen them rack up plays on the likes of BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM whilst earning support from the some of the most respected selectors on the scene including Roni Size, DJ Hype, DJ Marky, LTJ Bukem, Kanine, London Elektricity and more.
Their fresh approach and genre bending style has also landed them notable remix opportunities for the likes of DJ Fresh, MC $pyda and E-Z Rollers. The pair’s original collab track ‘Sunrise’, produced for Bru-C’s ‘Original Sounds’ album, has achieved nearly 2 million Spotify plays, while their unofficial remix of Pharoahe Monch’s ‘Simon Says’ continues to be a secret weapon amongst countless DJ sets.
Following on from ‘Race Against Time / Repro’ on V Recording’s sub-label Chronic earlier this year, new single ‘Switcher’ marks their second release of 2020 on René LaVice’s Device label. Debuting on the label with a bang, ‘Switcher’ is a monstrous hair raiser, boasting thrilling vibrations that surge into weighty wobbles and distinct pulses sure to tear up speakers globally. ‘Switcher’ is out now via Device and available to buy from here!
To coincide with their huge release the guys have recorded a special one hour mix for us which is EXCLUSIVE to the Data Transmission audience. Featuring tracks from themselves and the likes of Dillinja, Shy FX, Original Sin and loads of others from across the Jungle Drum & Bass spectrum. Check it out below and download it for free here

Tags On his twelfth studio LP in nearly 20 years, Reks sounds just as hungry and passionate on 'T.H.I.N.G.S. (The Hunger Inside Never Gets Satisfied)' as he did when 'Along Came The Chosen' dropped back in 2001. Perhaps even more so. There seems to be a fire that gets lit under the Lawrence, MA native whenever he begins crafting a new album. “While my conceptualizing process has grown over the years, the actual approach to getting started has remained consistent,” Reks says. “There’s a youthful eagerness that comes over me everytime I’m about to start a new record.”That feeling is palpable throughout T.H.I.N.G.S., especially on the project’s official lead single, “The Complex,” where Reks teams with Pharoahe Monch for a gripping concept that tackles different, but similar ills within our modern society. Monch starts the track by embodying a soldier suffering from PTSD who’s ostracized by his community, while Reks outlines Big Pharma’s growth and damage over the stellar instrumental produced by Statik Selektah. For Reks, it’s all about delivering the best possible music to his fans while staying true to himself. And he does exactly that not just through his own gifts, but with the help of Monch, who deliver one of the more powerful tracks of the year. T.H.I.N.G.S., which also includes collaborations with Lil Fame, Nottz, Evidence, and Marco Polo, among others, becomes available on CD and through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms on Friday, September 11, and on deluxe splatter Vinyl LP on Friday, October 23, via Brick Records. Vinyl pre-orders will be announced towards the end of August.Reks Online:• Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rekshiphop• Twitter: https://twitter.com/REKShiphop• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/REKSHipHop• Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6Apw0ReFBi9C1QBultw8pnPharoahe Monch Online: • Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pharoahemonch• Twitter: https://twitter.com/pharoahemonch• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pharoahemonch/• Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5DKuVtlpDH0agZQUFDy8O7Statik Selektah Online: • Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/statikselekt• Twitter: https://twitter.com/StatikSelekt• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/StatikSelekt/• Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5v0XTlB9FqNvfBfnw8n5b0
